Clarinet – Thomas Chaligiannis
Biography
Thomas Haligiannis comes from Parakalamos from a family of musicians. His father played the clarinet and was the one who gave him his first lessons as well as his first jobs and nights out. He was born in 1956.
He has worked in many music clubs in Athens alongside great clarinetists, such as Georgios Brachopoulos, Athanasios Haligiannis and Thanasis Vassilopoulos. In Epirus he had the honor of collaborating with the great Grigoris Kapsalis from whom he learned many lessons. He also taught and continues to teach young clarinetists.
For many years he taught at the Technical University of Arta as an experienced virtuoso clarinetist. He has also been involved with traditional dance clubs such as the ELLINIDON LYKEO and the IOANNINON Dance Club with which he has traveled throughout Europe, America and Australia, receiving many honors.
The greatest moment of his professional career is none other than the help that clarinetists Vasilis Papageorgiou and Elias Plastiras asked him for in their first steps, for whom he feels indescribable pride.
He was a clarinet teacher in the first “Mousika Ktismata” in 2025
