Biography
Lefkothea Filippidi was born and raised in Athens. Her involvement with music began at a very young age, as her family’s upbringing was strongly focused on the artistic element.
She began playing the piano and singing, and the piano, at the age of seven. Her father, Nikos Filippidis, is a professional clarinetist with an admirable and respectable career in the field of traditional music, while her mother, Fevronia Revinthi, is a great music radio producer for ERT.
She is a graduate of the Experimental Music High School – Lyceum of Pallini, and holds a degree in History – Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Management from the University of the Peloponnese.
She has completed classical studies in monody at the Musikoi Orizontes Conservatory, from where she holds a degree in Harmony – Counterpoint.
She holds a diploma in Byzantine Music from the Holy Archdiocese of Athens
Her musical tastes vary, thus giving her a wider creative field in music. Her great love and main field of professional activity and specialization, however, is Greek Traditional Music and more specifically, Epirus song. Her origins and the long tradition bequeathed by her father’s musical heritage, undoubtedly acted as a catalyst for her to engage in traditional music. Originally from Kerasovo, Konitsa, the Filippidis family counts at least seven generations of musicians!
Today, this long musical heritage is represented by Nikos, Kostas and Lefkothea.
Lefkothea, as a solo singer, but also with her band, has significant collaborations as well as appearances at festivals, theatrical performances, concerts, traditional folk festivals, etc. It is worth mentioning that in October 2025, she participated in the Herodion, in a dedicated performance on the theme of Chronis Aidonidis and the Music of Thrace.
She is a musician with a wide range of repertoire and many years of experience – research on the spectrum of Greek traditional music and beyond. Together with her band, she undertakes appearances at artistic events in and outside Greece, collaborating with virtuosos of the genre, such as: Antonis Kyritsis, George Dalaras, Panagiotis Lalezas, Chronis Aidonidis, Vangelis Dimoudis, Theofilos, Pagonas Athanasiou, Petroloukas Chalkias, Manos Achalinotopoulos, Alexandros Arkadopoulos, Petros Chalkias, Lefteris Konstantinou, Elias Logothetis, Lavrentis Machairitsa, Yannis Zouganelis, Shantel, Thomas Konstantinou, etc.
