Biography

Kostas was born in Platanousa, Tzoumerka, and comes from a family of musicians (his great-grandfather was a professional violinist).

He began studying the violin entirely by ear at the age of 12. Although he played for several years with rebetiko ensembles in Athens during the early 1980s, he later returned to Epirus and became primarily active in folk music, collaborating with leading clarinet soloists and singers.

He joined the ensemble of master clarinetist Grigoris Kapsalis, apprenticing alongside him for 23 years. Under the guidance of Christos Zotos, a master laouto player, he gained deep knowledge of the repertoires of both Epirus and the region of Xiromero.

He has an extensive discography and numerous professional collaborations with many leading clarinetists and vocalists, focusing particularly on Epirotic folk music.

He currently teaches violin at the University of Ioannina, in the School located in Arta.
