Biography
Giannis Poulios was born in Bruschal, Germany and grew up in Katerini.
He studied at the music school of Katerini and later at the Department of Folk and Traditional Music in Arta with his teachers: Giorgos Psaltis and Makis Baklatzis as well as at Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul (as part of the Erasmus program) for two semesters with his teachers Özer Özel, Nedim Nalbantoğlu and Murat Sakaryalı.
Today, he is actively involved in the Greek music scene as well as abroad with collaborations on stage and at the recording level with various musical groups such as: The Grammy-winning album “Las Letras Ya No Importan” by Puerto Rican artist Residente, “Tasos Poulios quartet”, “Σummation”, “Hane” and “Past presented” by Apostolos Sideris, the group Heliodromio, the Lappino project by Dimitris Lappas, and the group Ali Perret’s DU.DU in Istanbul. He has also collaborated with Minos Matsas at the Herodes Atticus 2024 and 2025, the band Psyche & Soma with Matthew and Kostas Tsachouridis in 2014 at the Athens Concert Hall, the band Loxandra and with artists such as Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Nena Venetsanou, Grigoris Kapsalis, Haig Yazdjan, Grammy-winning pianist Leo Genovese, Irene Tornesaki, Pericles Papapetropoulos, Areti Ketime, Lizetta Kalimeri, Antonis Apergis, Manos Achalinotopoulos, Fotis Siotas and other musicians of the Greek music scene.
Finally, for the last five years he has been working in the field of education as an assistant professor of traditional violin at the experimental music high school of Pallini and the music school of Ilios.
