MOUSIKA KTISMATA
The Epirotic Music and Dance Village
Join the first Epirus Music and Dance Village!
Following the success of popular cultural events in villages across Crete, Pelion, Drama, the Cyclades, and beyond, the International Center for Epirotic Music, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pogoni, is organizing the first cultural village in Epirus!
Why Pogoni? Out of the 18 municipalities of the Epirus region, Pogoni and the surrounding area are undoubtedly the birthplace of the Epirotic musical tradition.
Why Ktismata? From Epirus’s 986 villages, we chose the border village of Ktismata, once known a century ago as Arinista. Located at the heart of the polyphonic singing traditions that also extend to the Greek-speaking municipalities of Albania, Ktismata is a symbolic center. Polyphonic songs form the historical roots of Epirotic music. The village also offers ample space and a fully equipped recording studio!
For one week, dozens of instrumentalists, singers, and dancers will teach the authentic traditions of Epirus. Alongside the workshops, there will be events, presentations, and celebrations featuring renowned artists and the participation of residents from the wider region.
