Biography

With more than forty years of active involvement in the field of traditional and folk music, I have dedicated my life to the study, teaching, and performance of Greek rhythms and traditional percussion instruments. For the past three decades, I have been teaching at the Municipal Conservatory of Ioannina, while for thirteen years I was a key collaborator at the Museum–School of Ioannina, contributing to the connection between music education and the region’s cultural heritage. I also taught for five years at the School of Folk and Traditional Music at the University of Ioannina.

Throughout my career, I have had the honor of collaborating with leading figures in Greek traditional music as well as prominent artists from the folk repertoire, both on stage and in recordings. Teaching, for me, is an integral part of artistic practice — a living transmission of knowledge, experience, and a profound love for rhythm and tradition.
